Our mission
Our mission is to make a small, fair personal loan easy to find and easy to share. Roughly a third of American households rent, and most of them share the rent with someone: a roommate, a partner, a sibling, a parent. When one month comes up short, the borrowing decision affects everyone in the home, and the repayment should be split the same way the rent is. Split Rent Payments exists to handle both halves of that problem in one place.
What we do
We operate a single request form that sends a personal loan request to lenders in our network that are licensed where you live. Those lenders review the request, usually with a soft credit inquiry, and respond with offers that show the APR, term, monthly payment, total repayment, and fees before you decide anything. Loan amounts range from $500 to $5,000 and are always installment loans with fixed payments; no lender in our network offers single-payment loans due on your next pay date.
Alongside the form, we publish guides on the six reasons renters most often borrow: personal loans, debt consolidation, medical, vacation, moving, and holiday expenses. Every guide includes worked numbers, links to the calculator, and a method for dividing the payment in a shared household.
What we do not do
We are not a lender, and we do not make credit decisions, set rates, or service loans. We do not charge applicants anything, and we do not sell your information to marketers unrelated to your request. We do not list lenders that charge a fee before funding, and we do not use language like "guaranteed" or "instant" that the lending industry has learned to distrust. How we choose what to publish
Every article on the site is tied to a specific borrowing situation, uses real dollar figures, and is checked against the rates and eligibility pages before publication. The editorial team includes people who have worked in branch lending, property management, healthcare billing, and nonprofit credit counseling; their biographies appear at the end of each article they write. We publish the three- and four-star reviews alongside the five-star ones because a page with only praise is not useful.
